For a very long time, we've been planning to Lasik our poor eyes. Having been wearing correction glasses one after another since the third grade is just not at all fun and glamorous (not to mention those that were MiA). The last pair was a three-years worth of outlook disaster but we couldn't afford to look like million others out there and rather held on to that one-stem glasses for as long as we possibly could.

That period is officially over! We resoluted to a revolutionary way of 'creating' our own pair that's all about us: sharp, satirical, bold, creative, and everything fun, bubbly, and super cool. And it's as simple as replacing the tinted lenses on those bug-eyed oversized sunglasses (those big ones like the Oliver Peoples' Chelsea) with the clear correction lenses* (!)
And just to warn you in advance: you'll create tons of buzz (after all you are a trendsetter and you know those who don't get it aren't your crowd), but it's definitely worth the look!

* Please wear wisely and appropriately

Hurrah for rugs!

C'mon.. a scooshie layer for your cracking bare heels, a warm padding for those who cry at least half-a-day per day, a soft cushion for occasional spontanious living room love-making sessions...
We mean (seriously), who doesn't need one in her home?
So here they are, our top 5 rug picks:

1. Carpet no. III, Josef Frank via Svenskttenn
2. Persisk, IKEA, $499
3. Caravan Red, Tibet Carpet (pic)
4. Tribe, Matthew Williamson for The Rug Company
5. Fadded Glory Red, Paul Smith

Important tips:
- Pay attention to these: the overall theme of the interior, how much traffic the area gets, color (bright= larger space vs. dark= cozier room), synthetic vs. natural yarns.
- The denser the pile, the better the rug will wear.
- Always use an underlay. Not only will it absorb the impact of feet and noise, it will reduce wear and tear on the rug and make vacuuming easier.

Ok, we admit that we've been into structural lines, textural yet visually-light chairs, and the color red these days. And to our delight, we found two designs that are successfully delivering all the requirements in very elegant and unique ways.
Price-aside (one costs something like 8G), we love Zanuso/Raboni's Super Elastica Chair and Droog's Marcel Wanders' Knotted Chair (red-tinted version is limited to 99 pieces only).
Truly sculptural pieces, both chairs are light-weight and ergonomic, making them irresistable to design lovers/collectors all around the world.

SALE OF THE WEEK: KNOLL

Knoll Warehouse Sale!
For 3 days (yesterday till tomorrow), NY-ers can finally get original Knoll's merchandise in a fraction of their suggested retail price (or not.. item due diligence is a must for a real bargain deal. Our 2 cents: pass the Barcelona seating family).

We went there yesterday morning, waited in chill and a long line for 40 minutes, and got ourselves some serious mid-century gems (and we feel super smart for saving all those money), including Florence Knoll's side table with emperador marble top (50% off) and the only Mies' Barcelona Table frame they carried yesterday (list of screams include "OMG!!! You got that Barcelona Table frame for how much!!????!" "14 people have been asking us if you were changing your mind on that frame" "You are one lucky individual").

So run to 72-76 Greene Street (between Broome and Spring) and get something nice for your home!
